Белгийският артист и архитект Седрик Ван Парис (Cédric Van Parys) пристига в София с първата си самостоятелна изложба в България – Stone, Steel & Sky. От 19 септември до 5 октомври 2025 г. емблематичното Мраморно фоайе на Националния дворец на културата ще се превърне в сцена, където инфраструктурата, природата и ритуалът се срещат.
„Скала, Стомана и Небе“ препраща към интереса на Ван Парис в областта на тектоника, гравитация, тежест и материя, като същевременно намеква за инфраструктурата като пространства на възможности. Ван Парис присвоява съществуващи форми и символи; пренарежда и съпоставя елементи и материали от градския и селския пейзаж по начини, които провокират въображението, съчетавайки критическо посткапиталистическо послание с поетична универсална сакралност. По естествен начин, неговата работа резонира с монументалния дух на Националния дворец на културата — построен през 1981 г. като национален символ на културни амбиции.
Седрик Ван Парис (Cédric Van Parys) е артист и изследовател с архитектурно образование. Работейки между Брюксел, Ротердам и София, той създава скулптурни творби, специфични за пространството инсталации, фотографски асамблажи и публикации, които изследват връзката между паметници, инфраструктура, символи, ритуали и естетика. Чрез събирането на различни феномени като индивидуални елементи и тяхното преосмисляне в нови комбинации, Ван Парис поставя под въпрос традиционните представи за култура и природа. Негови работи са показвани в институции, галерии и университети в Съединените щати, Белгия, България, Нидерландия, Италия и Китай. Той е носител на стипендията Douglas A. Garofalo Fellow 2023–24 към Архитектурното училище на Университета в Илинойс, Чикаго.
Откриването ще се състои на 19 септември 2025 г. от 18:00 ч. в Мраморното фоайе на НДК. Входът е свободен.

Belgian artist and architect Cédric Van Parys draws inspiration from the legacy of the National Palace of Culture for his first solo exhibition in Bulgaria – Stone, Steel & Sky, conceived especially for the iconic Marble Foyer. The space, with its monumental structures, cool marble, clean geometric lines, and interplay of light, inspires Van Parys to unfold his aesthetic in a dialogue with the architectural spirit of the building.
In the Marble Foyer, the sense of scale, density, and stillness emphasizes the significance of material – not merely as form, but as a bearer of history and symbolism. This resonates with Van Parys’s artistic approach, in which matter is never just an aesthetic choice but a source of meaning and connection. Here, stone, steel, light, and space intertwine in a shared composition where architecture and art are equal participants.
In Stone, Steel & Sky, Cédric Van Parys transforms familiar forms and symbols, creating sculptures and installations born from travels and observations yet woven into the context of the site. The clean surfaces and solid architecture of the NDK resonate with his works, which explore weight, gravity, and materiality. For Van Parys, matter is not simply a choice — it is a message, a symbol, and a story.
Cédric Van Parys is a Belgian artist and architect working between Brussels, Rotterdam, and Sofia, whose sculptures, installations, and photographic assemblages investigate the relationships between monuments, infrastructure, symbols, and rituals. He graduated in architecture from KU Leuven and Central Saint Martins in London, worked with Rem Koolhaas (OMA/AMO), and later established his own practice, presenting projects on prestigious stages such as the 57th Venice Biennale, Shanghai Art Biennale, Bienal de Arquitetura de São Paulo, and the Graham Foundation in Chicago. In 2023–2024, he was awarded the Douglas A. Garofalo Fellowship at the University of Illinois Chicago, where he teaches and creates new works.
The opening will take place on September 19, 2025, at 18:00 h. in the Marble Hall of the NDK. Admission is free.
